Dr. Jay Willis
After successfully facilitating many dental practice transitions across Mississippi over the last twelve years, Jay is uniquely qualified and personally committed to walking you through this process. A graduate of the first class at the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry in 1979, he has since practiced as an associate, a partner, a solo practitioner, employed an associate, and ultimately completed his successful transition.
After more than 35 years of successful dental practice, Jay is now a retired dentist serving the profession as a dental practice transition consultant. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the Practice Valuation Study Group, and is a Life Member of the American Dental Association and the Mississippi Dental Association. Jay is proud to have been invited to be the Mississippi representative for the National Association of Practice Brokers and Consultants. Additionally, Jay serves as Mayor of the City of Pascagoula, and is on the Board of Directors of Merchants and Marine Bank, a South Mississippi and South Alabama Community Bank.

Dr. Wayne Caswell
A retired Mississippi prosthodontist and experienced dental educator, Dr. Caswell most recently taught at the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry, where he was honored numerous times as “teacher of the year” by his dental students. He is a proud recipient of the very prestigious Nelson Order Award and has also taught at the University of Florida School of Dentistry. Additionally, Dr. Caswell holds a master’s degree in psychology with an emphasis in organizational and counseling psychology from William Carey University.
As a practicing dentist for more than 40 years, Dr. Caswell brings a unique perspective to our team in that he’s completed two practice transitions of his own, selling a general dentistry practice in Natchez, and a prosthodontics practice in Gulfport.

Dr. John B. Smith, Jr.
Former Associate Dean for Student Affairs at the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry, Dr. John B. Smith, Jr., joins Willis & Associates after a long and illustrious career at the dental school over the past 37 years, with roles including Associate Dean for Admissions, Assistant Dean for Admissions, Associate Professor, and Clinical Instructor. Additionally, Dr. Smith owned and operated a successful private dental practice in Forest, Mississippi, from 1979-2012.
Named UMC Dental Alumnus of the Year in 2012, Dr. Smith earned the Hembree Honor Society All-Start Faculty Teaching Award twelve times during his tenure at the dental school. He holds a B.S. in Biology from Mississippi College and graduated summa cum laude from UMC with a DMD.
Dr. Smith is a member of the American Dental Association and the Mississippi Dental Association, serves on Bank of Forest Board of Directors, and is volunteer faculty for Missions of Mercy and Jackson Free Clinic. He’s Past President of Forest Rotary Club, Forest Chamber of Commerce, and the UMC Dental Alumni Association.
Dr. Smith and his wife Diane reside in Madison and have three sons and seven grandchildren.
